SOCIEDAD EXCURSIONISTA MANUEL IRADIER is pleased to present the seventeenth edition of the GREAT LONG-DISTANCE MOUNTAIN RACE "HIRU HAUNDIAK" |
||
| This long-distance walking mountain race, classified as what is now known as "Ultratrail", links three of the most emblematic and difficult peaks in the Basque Country: Gorbea (1,482 m. 4,861 ft.), Anboto (1,331 m. 4,366 ft.) and Aizkorri (1,528 m. 5,012 ft.). These three peaks in total constitute a 100-kilometre route (62 miles), with an accumulated drop of 10,000 metres (32,800 ft). There is a time deadline of 24 hours to complete it. The best time was obtained by Jose Luis Albizuri in 2008, with 12 hours 00. This wide 12-hour range between the first and the last to qualify allows everybody to take part in the event: from the fastest participants moved by a highly competitive spirit to the calmest runners, as long as they have an excellent training.
This edition will be held next 26th June, starting at midnight (12pm in the night between Friday and Saturday) from the town of Gopedi/Ondetegi. After having covered the entire route, going through the peaks of Gorbea, Anboto and Aizkorri, the finishing line will be in Araia another town in Alava. In this same town but on Friday, the participants will receive their numbers and control cards and will be taken to starting point: Gopegi/Ondategi. The registration was opened last January 1st, so you are still in time to take part in this event. In the meantime, you will find further information on our website: www.manueliradier.com We hope you will all come!
